Hi everyone, is it too late to say Happy New Year?
Etiquette apparently is ‘Wishing someone good cheer in the New Year should be reserved for the first two weeks of January. Any time after that is just asinine’ ......... so, Happy New Year and a very Happy 2019 lovely people.
How are you all? Still reeling from having to face reality? Yeah, me too!
Mind you I have eventually made it out of the mountain of Merino wool and to my desk today which is a giant achievement this week, believe me, especially on a Friday.
I still can't believe it's..
So what's been happening?
Well, Christmas orders are all in hand so a big thank you if that's you.
The Christmas decs came down last weekend (although they still need to be hauled up into the loft), and our lovely Christmas tree (that didn't drop it's needles) is outside waiting to be collected by St Luke’s Hospice. (This is a fantastic venture where local volunteers collect Christmas trees for a donation. So far this year 2652 addresses have registered in our area and £27,000 has been raised for St Luke's Cheshire Hospice. How amazing is that?)
Back to the New Year, it's a strange feeling in January don't you think? Where the heck did the holidays go? It all happened so quickly. All that hard work and 🌟 it’s gone! I hope you had a fantastic time though! We certainly did.
The start of a new year is often a strange one for me......because....it’s when orders of all shapes and sizes tend to come flying in which is unbelievably amazing, yet it feels like I’m playing catch up to start the new year. Does anyone else ever feel that too?
One exciting thing is that I can now start to share some of the lovely commissions that I made for Christmas which have remained locked secrets until now. Check out Dunnknit Designs on Instagram and facebook for some sneaky peeks over the next week or so. Here's one of my favourite surprises.....
I have been bopping about the studio from 2nd Jan but this week really feels like I have officially started back to it fresh after a time of working hard and playing hard. I adore Christmas and New Year. All the catching up with friends and family and generally enjoying the festivities. It was all great!
I’ve made an ace start to the year on my new health kick too, (I so need to look after ‘me’ more this year). Plus I find it's always good to make plans and having something to look forward to is a great incentive. Talking of which, has anyone booked a holiday yet?
Our holiday plans are a big ? as we’re in the process of trying to find a builder that will take on our mammoth task of an extension which excitingly includes a shiny bright new studio for moi! (Any recommendations in the Northwich are would be much appreciated please local peeps)
So, everyone was back to work and college here this week (it's sixth form exam week) and i’ve enjoyed being back to work in the studio without having to juggle a hundred things at once. You know that feeling right?
Wow, hello 2019! It's been a slow start, but I’m back to it and can’t wait to get going working through my sketch book on some new designs that I have planned. For starters I have some beautiful Merino wool that I acquired a few months ago and simply haven’t had the time to do anything with it yet. What do you think? Great names hey? They're heading for the new 'READY MADES' section of the website so watch this space.
What would you like to see made up out of this lovely selection? Let me know. They’re all Merino wool blends and are gorgeous. The colours are beautiful and there's a few silk threads mixed in one of them too. Can you guess which one?
I did manage to make a sneaky pom-pom hat in for myself for this winter to match my new Lucy & Yak coat too. I'm in love with this pom-pom and its swirls of colour. (Spot the new brooch too...it was a gift to myself from the lovely Rebecca at www.whitelightceramics.com. Her work is amazing.)
Also if you're wondering you can find Lucy & Yak at www.lucyandyak.com. If you haven’t discovered them yet, they’re ace. I live in their dungarees and pinafore dresses too!
Well, I think that's it for now, music fills the air, I’ve had a gigantic delivery land at DD HQ to replenish stock this week and I’m loving my new coffee.
Merino Wool and exciting new projects, here I come! Bring it on 2019!
Wishing you all a fantastic year ahead.
Until next time,
